Algeria’s Gas Production Reaches 8-Month High in November

Algiers – Algeria’s natural gas production experienced a significant surge in November, reaching its highest monthly level in eight months. The nation’s output totaled 8.928 billion cubic meters, marking a 5% year-on-year increase compared to the 8.496 billion cubic meters produced in November of the previous year.

This increase represents a rise of 911 million cubic meters compared to October 2025, when production stood at 8.017 billion cubic meters. The November figures highlight a positive trend for Algeria’s gas sector, despite fluctuations earlier in the year.

Domestically, gas consumption for electricity generation and heating also saw a slight increase in November, reaching 1.605 billion cubic meters, up from 1.583 billion cubic meters in the same month last year. This reflects a steady demand for gas within Algeria.

While November’s performance is encouraging, the cumulative gas production from January to November totaled 92.415 billion cubic meters, slightly lower than the 94.414 billion cubic meters recorded during the same period in 2024. This difference is attributed to lower production levels in several months throughout the year. January saw the highest production at 9.749 billion cubic meters, while September recorded the lowest at 6.923 billion cubic meters.

Exports to Europe Decline in November

Algeria’s natural gas exports via pipelines and liquefied natural gas (LNG) experienced a decrease in November, falling to 3.99 billion cubic meters compared to 4.65 billion cubic meters in November 2024. The decline was primarily due to reduced gas volumes transported via pipelines, which amounted to 2.73 billion cubic meters versus 3.12 billion cubic meters in the same period last year.

Despite the export dip, the overall increase in production suggests a potential recovery in Algeria’s gas sector during the fourth quarter, positioning the nation to meet both domestic and international energy demands.
