Algiers – In a move aimed at modernizing the agricultural sector and bolstering local production, the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization was officially inaugurated on Saturday. This initiative aligns with the directives of the President, who has emphasized the need to enhance efficiency and productivity within the farming industry.
The establishment of this council is a key component of a broader strategy to advance agricultural mechanization. The goal is to equip agricultural holdings with the appropriate machinery, thereby improving the productive performance of various agricultural sectors. The council comprises representatives from relevant ministerial departments, professional farmers’ organizations, and local economic operators involved in the manufacturing of agricultural equipment.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of developing a comprehensive action plan for the council. This plan should prioritize a precise inventory of farmers’ equipment needs, taking into account the specific characteristics of each agricultural sector. Furthermore, it should define priorities related to the upcoming agricultural seasons, ensuring their success and the achievement of set objectives. The action plan should also include practical measures to strengthen and diversify the national production of agricultural equipment, aligning it with field demands and meeting usage standards based on the climatic and geographical characteristics of each agricultural region.
The council will also address concerns related to strengthening national capabilities in the maintenance of agricultural equipment and the provision of spare parts. This will be achieved through the creation and development of a specialized national network, ensuring the optimal utilization of the national fleet and reducing downtime. It was decided that the council will hold regular meetings to assess the implementation of the action plan and ensure a rapid and effective response to the various needs in the field of agricultural mechanization, thereby serving the sustainable development of the sector.
