Algiers, Algeria – A presidential decree has officially established the National Autism Center, according to an announcement from the Ministry of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Issues. The decree outlines the center’s mission, organizational structure, and operational procedures.
The Ministry’s statement emphasized that the creation of this center is a direct result of the high attention given by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who previously issued directives to enhance the care and support provided to individuals affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The newly established center will be responsible for developing national programs and curricula specifically tailored for individuals with autism. These programs will focus on key areas such as early diagnosis and screening, rehabilitation, and treatment methodologies.
Furthermore, the center will play a crucial role in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the National Autism Plan, which was approved by the President on June 1st, 2025.
The Ministry also indicated that the establishment of the National Autism Center will be followed by the creation of specialized centers at the local level. The initial phase will involve the establishment of four specialized regional centers, each dedicated to providing care and support to individuals with autism across the country. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive and accessible network of services for individuals with autism and their families throughout Algeria.
