Iraqi Hezbollah Warns: War on Iran Won’t Be a ‘Picnic’

The Iraqi Hezbollah group has issued a stark warning regarding potential military action against Iran, asserting that any such conflict would be far from a simple undertaking. Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, Secretary-General of Kata’ib Hezbollah, stated that enemies would taste “various forms of death” and have “nothing left in our region.”

In a press statement released Sunday, al-Hamidawi called on fighters across the globe to prepare for a comprehensive war in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He emphasized Iran’s decades-long support for the oppressed and just causes, urging those who reject the dominance of “infidelity and hypocrisy over the people of faith and justice” to stand ready.

“We call on our Mujahideen brothers to prepare on the ground for this, and to reconcile themselves to one of the two best outcomes, especially if Jihad is declared by religious authorities to wage this holy war,” al-Hamidawi continued, alluding to potential martyrdom operations in defense of Islam.

These warnings come amidst heightened tensions in the region. While unconfirmed, reports have circulated regarding discussions between U.S. and Israeli military officials concerning potential actions against Iran. Some reports suggest a focus on targeting those responsible for harming protestors within Iran, although the timeline for any such action remains unclear.

The statement from Iraqi Hezbollah underscores the complex and potentially volatile nature of any military intervention in Iran, highlighting the risk of a broader regional conflict. The group’s pledge to support Iran signals a willingness to escalate the conflict, potentially drawing in various actors and further destabilizing the region.
