DZWatch Exclusive: Several regions of Algeria are under a severe weather alert today, experiencing heavy thunderstorms and strong winds. The national meteorological service has issued multiple warnings, urging residents to take precautions.
The first alert, valid until midday, covers the following provinces: Mostaganem, Chlef, Mascara, Relizane, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Ain Defla, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, Medea, and Bouira. These areas can expect significant rainfall, potentially reaching 40 to 50 millimeters locally.
A second warning indicates continued heavy thunderstorms, with rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters in some areas, until 11:00 PM tonight. This alert applies to Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Setif, Guelma, and Souk Ahras.
Additionally, Batna, Oum El Bouaghi, Constantine, Mila, and Bordj Bou Arreridj are forecast to experience considerable thunderstorms locally until midday.
Strong winds, exceeding 90 km/h, are expected to persist until 3:00 PM in Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tiaret, Naama, El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, Ouled Djellal, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Mascara, Relizane, Chlef, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf.
Finally, a separate warning is in effect from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, cautioning about strong winds and significant sandstorms in Biskra, El M’Ghair, El Oued, Touggourt, Ouargla, Ghardaia, and Illizi.
