Tunis, Algeria – Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, participated today in Tunis in the ministerial meeting of the Tripartite Mechanism of Neighboring Countries of Libya. The meeting focused on regional efforts to support stability and security within Libya.
The Algerian Foreign Minister joined his counterparts, Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad of the Republic of Tunisia, and Mr. Badr Abdel-Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptians Abroad of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Tripartite Mechanism serves as a platform for Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt to coordinate their approaches and initiatives concerning the ongoing situation in Libya. Discussions centered on strengthening cooperation to address shared challenges, including border security, combating terrorism, and promoting a peaceful political transition. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting an inclusive Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process, facilitated by the United Nations.
