A high-level ministerial delegation recently visited Tiaret province to address concerns regarding residential buildings damaged by cracks and structural issues. The visit, led by the Director-General of Housing and the Director-General of the National Agency for Technical Building Control, was conducted in response to directives from the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City.
The delegation commenced its visit with a working session chaired by the Governor of Tiaret, bringing together key stakeholders including directors, representatives from the National Laboratory for Housing and Construction, and various design offices. The primary focus of the session was to evaluate the implementation of ministerial instructions and the progress of rehabilitation efforts for the affected housing units. These units had previously been inspected by ministerial services in late December 2024, followed by a field visit.
Following the working session, the delegation conducted on-site inspections of the damaged residences. The Director-General of Housing emphasized the importance of regular maintenance for both the affected buildings and neighboring structures, urging the Director-General of the Office for Promotion and Real Estate Management to prioritize this matter. Furthermore, he stressed the urgent need to expedite comprehensive expert assessments and technical soil studies to facilitate the prompt launch of tenders and selection of construction companies, given the critical nature of the situation.
The field inspections encompassed several locations, including:
- The 150-unit housing complex (Building C3) in the municipality of Frenda.
- The 20-unit housing complex (Building A2) in the municipality of Tousnina.
- The 250-unit housing complex (Building A3) and the 118-unit housing complex (Buildings B2 and C2) in the municipality of Tiaret.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing housing concerns and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens in Tiaret province.
