Algiers, Algeria – Several Algerian provinces are under a severe weather alert today as the National Meteorological Office forecasts significant weather disturbances across the country.
The alert, issued earlier today, warns of locally heavy thunderstorms and strong winds expected to impact several regions, particularly in the central and western parts of Algeria. The provinces most likely to be affected include Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Blida, Tipaza, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, Chlef, Mostaganem, Relizane, Mascara, and Tiaret. Significant rainfall amounts are anticipated in certain localities within these provinces.
Authorities are also warning of strong winds in other areas. According to the meteorological office, provinces including Boumerdes, Algiers, Chlef, Mostaganem, Oran, Ain Temouchent, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, and Naama could experience strong winds, potentially accompanied by blowing sand.
