Algeria and US Discuss Regional Security and Cooperation

Algiers, January 27, 2026 – Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received Mr. Messaoud Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Africa, Arab Affairs, and the Middle East, at the Ministry headquarters on Tuesday. Mr. Boulos is currently on an official visit to Algeria.

The meeting focused on bolstering bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation across various sectors. Discussions also centered on critical regional and international issues, with a particular emphasis on security challenges and stability in Africa and the Middle East. Both parties reiterated their commitment to promoting peaceful resolutions to conflicts and fostering sustainable development in the region.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions were productive and reflected a shared desire to strengthen the strategic partnership between Algeria and the United States. Minister Attaf emphasized Algeria’s commitment to playing a constructive role in regional peace and security, highlighting the country’s efforts to mediate conflicts and promote dialogue.
