Algiers – Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, received Vice Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani, the Italian National Armaments Director, today at the Army’s garrison club in Djanet.
The meeting preceded the 16th session of the Algerian-Italian Joint Committee for Cooperation in Technical-Military Fields and Defence Industries. According to a statement released by the Ministry of National Defence, both officials co-chaired the proceedings.
Discussions during the session focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest within the defence sector. The committee reviewed ongoing projects and explored new avenues for collaboration, aiming to enhance the capabilities of both nations’ armed forces.
This high-level meeting underscores the commitment of Algeria and Italy to fostering a strong and enduring partnership in defence. The two countries share a strategic interest in regional stability and security, and their cooperation is seen as vital for addressing common challenges.
