Communication Minister Meets with Online Media Leaders

Algiers, January 27, 2026 – The Minister of Communication, Zouhir Bouamama, today held a working meeting with representatives from accredited online media outlets at the Ministry headquarters.

This meeting follows a series of discussions the Minister has held with national media across various platforms, aiming to foster dialogue with key players in the sector. The goal is to address their professional concerns and discuss relevant issues.

Minister Bouamama expressed his appreciation for the significant role online media plays in safeguarding the nation and highlighting the state’s efforts to support development across different sectors. He urged them to support ongoing major projects aimed at strengthening Algeria’s regional and international standing and boosting its economy.

Attendees acknowledged President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s support for electronic press in Algeria, particularly through the enactment of legislation to regulate the sector and provide financial support to ensure the sustainability of these media institutions.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to commend the vital role the national media plays in the ongoing battle of awareness. Algeria, strengthened by the awareness of its citizens and their support for state institutions, is actively countering systematic campaigns orchestrated from abroad aimed at undermining its internal stability.

In closing, the Minister emphasized the responsibility of online media in building a strong and cohesive information ecosystem. This system should empower Algerians to access reliable information promptly and effectively counter misinformation and fake news with objective data, thereby protecting collective awareness and fortifying society against disinformation campaigns.
