Algeria has reached a pivotal milestone with the full launch of the Gara Djebilet – Tindouf – Bechar mining railway line, which will enable the transport of iron from Gara Djebilet to the north of the country. This strategic step strengthens economic sovereignty and establishes Algeria as a promising mining and industrial hub.
According to the Ministry of Vocational Education and Training, this massive project serves as a real lever for developing vocational training and education in the mining sector. This is achieved through the creation and updating of specific specializations directly linked to the mining value chain, such as mine exploitation, drilling and extraction techniques, ore processing and transformation, industrial and mining safety, maintenance of mining equipment, and the management of mining facilities.
In this context, the vocational training and education sector is keeping pace with this national dynamic by integrating specialized training programs in mining professions, alongside railway and industrial logistics professions. The goal is to train national talents capable of supporting the operation of the Gara Djebilet project and ensuring its sustainability according to the highest technical and environmental standards.
The project also opens broad horizons for integrating youth into new strategic professions, providing them with the opportunity to gain direct field experience at exploitation sites and logistics and railway facilities. This enhances their readiness to enter the labor market and effectively contribute to the development of the national mining sector.
This project embodies the state’s integrated vision, which is based on linking investment in natural resources with human resource development. Vocational training in mining constitutes the cornerstone for the success of major projects, ensuring the transfer of expertise and the building of Algerian competencies capable of leading the mining and industrial transformation.
The Ministry added that Gara Djebilet is not just a mining project, but a national school for developing the competencies of tomorrow.
