The Port of Bejaia received on Wednesday evening a ship carrying 11,700 head of sheep from Romania, which will be slaughtered to supply the market with red meat in preparation for the month of Ramadan.
According to the official Facebook page of the Port of Bejaia, this operation is the first of its kind in 2026 regarding the sheep category. It comes just two days after the arrival of the first shipment of calves from Brazil.
The operation is part of a program to supply the national market with red meat and is considered an important step to ensure supply stability and meet the needs of citizens across various regions of the country.
