“The Greens” Exit AFCON

The national football team has been eliminated from the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations following a 2-0 defeat against Nigeria. “The Greens” did not display their usual performance from previous matches, as fatigue was evident among Maza’s teammates, who were unable to keep up with the high pace and rhythm imposed by the “Super Eagles.”

The first half ended in a goalless draw, proving to be a grueling period for Bensebaini’s teammates, who committed defensive errors that nearly cost them an early goal. Nigeria managed to open the scoring in the 47th minute of the second half through Osimhen, followed by a second goal in the 57th minute by Akor Adams, allowing them to take full control of the match.

The match was also marked by controversial decisions from the referee, who failed to award a clear penalty to the national team at the start of the first half. Additionally, Senegalese referee Issa Sy issued several undeserved yellow cards to Boudaoui’s teammates. However, this does not detract from the Nigerian team, which delivered a strong performance and deservedly secured their qualification.
