Gold and Silver Rise Again to Record Prices

Gold prices exceeded $4,600 per ounce for the first time on Monday, while silver also rose to an all-time high. Spot gold increased by approximately 1.7% to reach $4,586.97 per ounce, after the precious metal hit a new record high of $4,601.17 earlier in the session.

This surge comes amid ongoing protests in Iran and U.S. President Donald Trump’s display of American power on the international stage, following the ousting of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his expressed interest in acquiring Greenland. It also coincides with data released on Friday showing that U.S. employment growth slowed more than expected last December, with job losses reported in the construction, retail, and manufacturing sectors.
