President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, chaired a Council of Ministers meeting today. The session focused on monitoring measures to supply the national market with essential consumer goods during the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the progress of supplementary development programs for the provinces of Khenchela, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, and Tindouf. Following the presentation of the agenda and the government’s activity over the past two weeks by the Prime Minister, the President issued several instructions and directives.
Regarding water resources, the President ordered the Minister of Water Resources and Water Security to begin the construction of desalination plants in Tamanrasset and Tindouf within the next month. He emphasized that these projects are strategic for the population of the Great South.
He also ordered the establishment of a new wastewater treatment and purification plant in Tindouf, specifically to support promising agricultural projects.
The President instructed the Minister of Water Resources to double precautionary and monitoring measures during the discharge of excess water from full dams.
Furthermore, the President stressed the utmost importance of respecting national drinking water distribution plans throughout the year. He stated that the recent water supply interruption in Chlef was completely unacceptable and would result in full accountability, warning against any negligence that leads to such incidents.
Regarding preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, the President directed that all favorable conditions be provided for citizens to spend the month in comfort and tranquility, given its sanctity and the values of cooperation and solidarity it represents.
He ordered the government to increase its responsiveness during Ramadan to effectively address all concerns.
The President noted the recorded abundance of various products, including agricultural and livestock goods, emphasizing that this must be positively reflected in prices during the holy month.
Concerning the progress of supplementary programs for Khenchela, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, and Tindouf, the President praised the implementation of all programs and the completion of projects within their specified deadlines.
Finally, the President ordered the government to prepare new supplementary programs for the least developed provinces, particularly those recently established.
