Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, emphasized on Wednesday in Addis Ababa the critical importance of the upcoming African Summit. He noted that the current international context threatens to marginalize Africa, sideline its priorities, and neutralize its global role and voice.
Speaking on the report of the Permanent Representatives Committee, Attaf stated that from this perspective, concerns should not be limited to the immediate internal management of the organization.
The official added that efforts must extend toward a broader, forward-looking collective vision. This vision should accurately identify common threats, adapt joint actions to rapid global transformations, and reaffirm the African project as an indispensable strategic choice. He stressed the need to safeguard a common destiny in a turbulent world, aiming for a future more responsive to the continent’s interests and aspirations.
The Minister of State further clarified that Algeria supports all efforts to strengthen the organization, move beyond self-isolation, and enhance its continental and international presence. This, he said, would enable the organization to address current continental and global challenges with realism and responsibility.
