Algiers: Updates on the Coastal Tourist Road Project

The Wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdennour Rabehi, conducted a field visit on Wednesday to inspect the progress of the coastal tourist road project in the eastern part of the capital. The project spans 14.5 kilometers, stretching from the mouth of Oued El Harrach to Tamentfoust.

The Wilaya of Algiers stated that the Wali inspected various sections of the project, which includes the construction of a coastal tourist road and accompanying technical structures. The initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the municipalities of Bordj El Kiffan and Bordj El Bahri, improving traffic flow and facilitating vehicle movement toward the city center.

Work is currently underway on 9 kilometers of the project, which is part of the “Blue Plan” strategic vision for the development and modernization of the capital, with work continuing to complete the remaining sections. The project also includes the creation of recreational and sports spaces, as well as play areas along the waterfront.

In this context, the Wali issued directives to project managers, emphasizing the need to accelerate the announcement of tenders and the selection of construction companies to complete the remaining 5.5 kilometers of the project.

Rabehi ordered the acceleration of the development of leisure and entertainment spaces and sports facilities for youth, the inclusion of parking lot construction, and the cleaning and landscaping of the surrounding environment. He also stressed the need to address the phenomenon of illegal dumping of rubble and solid waste, taking necessary measures against violators, and tackling buildings constructed without permits.
