Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Sayoud, announced a review of the basic law governing the Civil Protection service to address the concerns of its personnel.
During a public session at the People’s National Assembly dedicated to oral questions for government members on Thursday, Sayoud explained that this review, conducted in coordination with the General Directorate of Civil Protection, will address the issues raised by the service’s members. He added that the review workshop is nearing the completion of its work.
In a related context, the Minister noted that promotions within the Civil Protection service are proceeding normally, in accordance with the legal procedures in force. He cited the promotion of more than 21,000 employees across various ranks over the past four years as evidence.
He also highlighted the attention given to this sector, particularly by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, through continuous support for Civil Protection efforts. This includes developing the national system by providing qualified human resources and necessary material means, while integrating modern technologies to enhance the deployment of operational units nationwide and improving coordination mechanisms with local and international partners. These steps have had a positive impact on raising the professionalism of the service.
