Ramadan 2026: Belmehdi Receives Imams Dispatched Abroad

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, received on Thursday in Algiers the imams dispatched to lead Tarawih prayers for the diaspora. This comes as part of the ongoing preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, according to a ministry statement.

The statement explained that the dispatching of these imams follows requests and proposals submitted by Islamic associations and centers through Algerian embassies and diplomatic missions in Italy, Britain, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Hungary, Spain, and Canada. This reflects the national community’s and the wider Muslim population’s commitment to maintaining their national religious reference during the holy month.

The meeting served as an occasion for the minister to provide a series of directives, emphasizing that this mission has a religious and cultural dimension, with concerted efforts made to ensure its success under the best possible conditions.
