The Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, received a high-level delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia on Saturday in Algiers. The delegation was led by Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, Commander of the Somali Police Force, as part of efforts to strengthen Algerian-Somali police cooperation.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the General Directorate of National Security, began with bilateral talks between the Director General of National Security and his Somali counterpart. The session then expanded to include the police delegations of both countries, focusing primarily on ways to enhance police cooperation in various fields, particularly specialized training, cybercrime, scientific and technical police, and transnational organized crime.
In his speech, the Director General of National Security emphasized that this visit aims to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of successful experiences between the two countries. He highlighted the goal of building a strong and lasting partnership in police work, supporting its various fields, and translating police initiatives into practical reality to improve institutional performance and readiness in facing current security challenges.
Badaoui highlighted the importance of doubling cooperation and effective coordination efforts at both bilateral and multilateral levels, especially given the rise of the criminal triad consisting of terrorism, organized crime, and cybercrime. This is to be achieved through capacity building, training, information exchange, and the activation of criminal prosecution mechanisms.
In the same context, he called for upgrading police cooperation between the two institutions, particularly in light of growing security challenges and the proliferation of various forms of crime, especially organized and transnational crime.
For his part, the Commander of the Somali Police Force praised the warm reception and hospitality, noting that he is the first Somali Police Commander to visit Algeria.
