The Algiers Bar Association organized a high-level international seminar on Saturday regarding international arbitration, state sovereignty, and alternative dispute resolution methods, bringing together prominent academics, lawyers, and national and international experts.
In his opening speech, the President of the Algiers Bar Association, Mohamed Baghdadi, officially announced the establishment of the Algerian Center for Dispute Resolution. Baghdadi explained that this strategic initiative aims to strengthen national capacities in the field of arbitration and mediation, providing a modern and reliable institutional framework for dispute resolution and consolidating Algeria’s position as a regional reference in the field of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution methods.
During the international seminar, experts emphasized that international arbitration constitutes a strategic tool for attracting investment while preserving state sovereignty. The focus was on the necessity of a solid legal framework and a consistent national strategy to enhance the confidence of economic actors.
The participants also highlighted the role of well-drafted contracts and arbitration clauses in vital sectors such as energy, mining, transport, and maritime navigation, where dispute prevention is crucial to ensuring the protection of strategic projects.
