The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouidri, chaired a coordination meeting on Monday for the multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary national working group tasked with following up on the project to establish an integrated virology research center and a vaccine production factory at the ministry’s headquarters.
According to a statement from the ministry, virology researcher Yahia Chebloun provided a detailed presentation on the objectives and final preparations for establishing the center. He also discussed the nature of the research to be conducted in cooperation with the Saidal industrial group, aimed at meeting national market demands for both human and veterinary vaccines, thereby securing Algeria’s independence in vaccine production.
The working group consists of 22 members, including representatives and experts from various ministerial sectors such as National Defense, Pharmaceutical Industry, Health, Industry, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, as well as the National Agency for Health Security.
