Algeria Reaches 3 Million Households Connected to Fiber Optic Service

The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications announced that the number of households connected to high-speed internet via Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technology has exceeded 3 million.

The ministry stated in a press release that reaching this milestone comes as part of implementing the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which aim to achieve continuous progress in completing the national fiber optic connection. This aligns with the “All Fiber” strategy announced by the ministry, which sets a deadline of 2027 for the full generalization of this technology.

The statement also noted that the expansion of FTTH technology is being carried out in a balanced manner across all provinces of the country.

On a continental level, Algeria ranks first in Africa with 3 million households connected to high-speed FTTH internet, followed by South Africa, Egypt, Mauritius, Ivory Coast, and Kenya.

Through this national achievement, the ministry confirmed its determination to continue implementing this ambitious strategy in coordination with various sector actors, led by Algérie Télécom, to build a modern, sovereign, and sustainable national digital system serving citizens and the national economy.
