The Court of First Instance in Rabat has sentenced young Algerian Raouf Belkasmi to three months in prison and a fine of 500 Moroccan dirhams (approximately 47 euros). Belkasmi was prosecuted following his involvement in what was described as “immoral behavior” inside the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat during a match between the national team and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to the official account.
The Public Prosecution categorized the acts attributed to him as public indecency and the dissemination of content violating public morals during a sporting event, considering his actions a breach of public order and the values of respect required within sports venues.
Following the circulation of a video clip, security services launched investigations to identify the individual and track his movements. He was subsequently arrested in Casablanca and transferred to Rabat, as the alleged acts occurred within its territorial jurisdiction.
Raouf’s father confirmed the sentence issued against his son, noting that the family is considering whether to appeal the verdict this Tuesday. The father described the ruling as “unreasonable” and “illegal even internationally,” arguing that a fine should have been sufficient.
