Algeria-Oman: Discussing Ways to Enhance Cooperation in Fertilizer Production

The Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters a delegation from the Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sheikh Saad Suhail Bahwan.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Algeria, Saif Rashid Al Badaai, and the CEO of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi, along with officials from the ministry.

During the meeting, the two parties reviewed the current state of cooperation and partnership between Sonatrach and the Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, and ways to strengthen and expand them, particularly in the hydrocarbons and petrochemicals sectors. Focus was placed on fertilizer production projects, such as ammonia and urea, and exploring prospects for expanding the group’s investments in Algeria, especially in the fertilizer industry.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore investment opportunities available in Algeria, particularly in sectors related to hydrocarbons and mining. In this context, they discussed the reforms, facilities, and new legal and regulatory frameworks established by Algeria, which aim to improve the business climate, encourage foreign investment, and strengthen mutually beneficial strategic partnerships.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing economic cooperation between Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman, particularly by strengthening the existing partnership between Sonatrach and the Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, contributing to sustainable development and consolidating economic ties between the two countries.
