The Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kaouthar Krikou, accompanied by the Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui, oversaw the opening of a study day on the legal and regulatory framework related to environmental protection at the “Ali Tounsi” Higher Police School.
The meeting featured presentations on national environmental legislation and its field implementation mechanisms, highlighting the pivotal role of National Security in protecting the environment and contributing to sustainable development. It also emphasized the alignment of national legislation with Algeria’s international commitments, particularly agreements related to biodiversity, climate change, and nature reserves.
The event concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life and the General Directorate of National Security. This agreement aims to establish an institutional framework for coordination and cooperation in environmental preservation and protection. It also seeks to address various environmental crimes and support training and environmental awareness programs to enhance the effectiveness of implementing environmental legislation on the ground.
