Minister of Industry Yahia Bachir held a working session with his Chadian counterpart, Mathieu Guibolo Fanga, Minister of Trade and Industry. The meeting was attended by the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, Fayçal Gaouti, as well as the CEO of the Algerian Cement Industry Group (GICA), Rabah Guessoum, and senior officials from the Chadian Ministry of Trade and Industry and the GICA group.
This session follows up on the preliminary meeting held in Algiers on December 18, which focused on exploring cooperation prospects in the cement industry.
The talks addressed ways to develop the cement industry in Chad by examining available options, whether through implementing structured industrial projects in the medium term or adopting practical and rapid solutions to meet immediate needs. This is particularly relevant given the gap between current cement consumption levels and the requirements of development and construction.
Discussions also included the possibility of establishing clinker grinding units, supported by Algerian expertise and supplied with raw materials from Algeria, to meet the needs of the Chadian market and support the local development of the cement sector.
In this context, the importance of benefiting from Algerian experience in the cement and building materials industry was emphasized, particularly through the GICA group, which possesses significant production and human capacities and extensive expertise in the sector.
Both parties also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding defining the general framework for cooperation. This will allow for deeper technical discussions and the implementation of industrial partnership projects and joint ventures that serve the mutual interests of both countries and contribute to industrial development.
