SNTF Responds to Consumer Protection Organization

The National Railway Transport Company (SNTF) issued a clarification statement in response to comments made by the Consumer Protection Organization regarding transport conditions on trains connecting Algiers and Oran.

SNTF emphasized in its statement that passenger safety is a top priority, noting that all operations are carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and under the supervision of competent authorities.

The company explained that it adopts two commercial formats for managing trips across its various lines, in line with the nature of demand and passenger needs. The first format involves trains subject to a pre-booking system, where the number of seats is determined and each passenger is guaranteed a seat, especially on trips with high demand or limited stops.

The second format concerns trains operating without pre-booking, according to an open system that allows boarding and disembarking at various stations without mandatory reservation, aiming to ensure a flexible public transport service, particularly for daily or emergency travelers.

The company confirmed that this mode of operation is conducted within a specific regulatory framework, while respecting the capacity of the trains according to approved technical standards.

The National Railway Transport Company also indicated that it takes the observations raised into account and is constantly working to improve reception and organization conditions inside stations and on board trains, to achieve a balance between the citizen’s right to travel and safety and security requirements.

In conclusion, the National Railway Transport Company renewed its readiness to cooperate with civil society organizations, led by the Consumer Protection Organization, with the aim of improving the quality of public transport services.
