The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, oversaw the opening of a national seminar titled “The Role of the Female Religious Guide in Enhancing Awareness and Guidance During the Month of Ramadan” on Sunday via videoconference at the ministry’s headquarters.
In his speech on the occasion, Belmehdi explained that this meeting “comes within the framework of the ministry’s program prepared in coordination with the directorates, the so-called external administrations of the central authority, Islamic cultural centers, and institutes.”
The Minister highlighted the pivotal role of the female guide in the “religious guidance process within the houses of God Almighty as a Quran teacher and a professor of Quranic education.”
Belmehdi added that “the title of the seminar carries great significance, reinforcing the pivotal role played by female religious guides and women’s activities in Algeria in general, whether in religious guidance, women’s counseling, direction, Quranic education, or inspection.”
The Minister also emphasized that “women’s activity is valued and has a special impact in Algeria,” noting that “all female religious guides are university graduates, with the minimum qualification being a bachelor’s degree, followed by a master’s or doctorate. We have, thank God, a large number of graduates with higher studies in this specialty.”
