The first national data center in Mohammedia, Algiers, has obtained the “Tier III Design” certification issued by the Uptime Institute. This reflects the “level of technical maturity and institutional readiness” achieved by this strategic facility, according to a statement issued Sunday by the High Commission for Digitalization.
The statement explained that within the framework of implementing the objectives of the National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Algeria—particularly its first axis related to basic infrastructure for information and communication technologies—the first national data center (Data Center 1) in Mohammedia obtained the Tier III Design certification to consolidate standards of excellence in technological infrastructure.
This achievement reflects the “level of technical maturity and institutional readiness reached by this strategic facility.” According to the statement, this classification is an international reference that confirms the infrastructure’s compliance with the highest standards of reliability and continuity by ensuring maintenance capability without interruption and providing advanced levels of security and operational readiness.
The accreditation is the culmination of a precise technical and engineering process based on an integrated infrastructure design and the adoption of advanced solutions to ensure business continuity, while subjecting various components to strict evaluation standards in accordance with global best practices.
In the same context, the High Commission for Digitalization is committed to continuing work to obtain the Tier III Facility Construction Certification, which would be the first of its kind in Algeria. This effort aims to complete the accreditation process and enhance levels of readiness and reliability according to international standards. The commission is also working to obtain the Tier III Design certification for the second national data center in Blida province (Data Center 2).
