Members of the Territorial Brigade of the National Gendarmerie in Ain Oulmene, Setif province, have dismantled a secret workshop producing adulterated spices, seizing more than 18 quintals of various types prepared for packaging and marketing.
According to a statement from the authorities, the operation was launched following confirmed information regarding a secret workshop in a suburb of the Ain Oulmene municipality. The owner was found to be manufacturing and mixing various types of spices without the required licenses and without adhering to the hygiene standards mandated for food industries.
The operation resulted in the seizure of more than 18 quintals of adulterated spices ready for distribution, along with various machinery and equipment used in the production and adulteration process. The total value of the seized items is estimated at 277 million centimes.
The suspect and the case file will be presented to the competent judicial authorities for further legal action.
