Director of “The Migrant” Series Responds to Doctors’ Union

Yanis Koussim, the director of the series “The Migrant,” has responded to the National Union of Public Health Practitioners following their complaint against the show filed with the Audiovisual Regulatory Authority. In a post on his Facebook account, Koussim raised several questions, stating: “What if you focused on the condition of health facilities in your departments, the suffocating odors, the nauseating food, and other shortcomings? Wouldn’t that be better?”

The director continued: “When Captain Majed kicks the ball and it remains suspended in the air until the next episode before tearing through the net, the Algerian Football Federation does not file a complaint. Similarly, when books mention unicorns and phoenixes, no zoological association expresses surprise.”

The director of “The Migrant” added: “Football players and zoologists realize that all of this is not real,” referring to errors in series such as “House” and “ER,” which he described as “massive and numerous, yet no one bothered them, especially the doctors in their own countries.”

Koussim further emphasized that everyone knows “it is fiction and not reality, and I believe all the doctors in the world know that as well.”

The National Union of Public Health Practitioners had filed an official complaint with the Audiovisual Regulatory Authority, calling for urgent intervention regarding scenes they described as “indecent and damaging to the reputation of the medical profession” in the series “The Migrant,” which is being broadcast on the Al-Hayat channel during the 2026 Ramadan season.
