“Gara Djebilet” to Create 5,000 Direct and 20,000 Indirect Jobs

The Director of Employment for the province of Bechar, Chafaa Belaid, revealed that the economic importance of the Gara Djebilet project lies in the social development and developmental momentum it will generate.

Belaid confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the “Project of the Century” will create approximately 5,000 direct job opportunities and 20,000 indirect ones, in addition to stimulating investments in other sectors such as transport, agriculture, trade, and infrastructure.

The spokesperson explained that the Gara Djebilet project will open significant economic and social horizons for the southwestern region of Algeria and the country as a whole. He added that it is a massive project that will contribute to strengthening income sources, boosting the mining manufacturing industry, reinforcing the principle of economic sovereignty, and diversifying the country’s resources away from hydrocarbons.

Furthermore, Belaid pointed out that the western mining railway line connecting Gara Djebilet, Bechar, Tindouf, and Oran will break the isolation of the country’s southwestern regions and create economic, social, and developmental dynamics. It will also provide greater opportunities for the youth in these areas for training, employment, and gaining experience.
