Sonelgaz Activates Emergency Plans and Establishes Monitoring Cells

Sonelgaz Distribution has announced the activation of emergency plans and the establishment of monitoring cells, alongside the full mobilization of human and material resources. These measures aim to ensure the continuity and quality of electricity supply and provide rapid intervention to address sudden faults caused by recent weather disturbances, including heavy rainfall and strong winds across several provinces.

In Tizi Ouzou, the Distribution Directorate mobilized resources from five districts—Tizi Ouzou, Azazga, Larbaâ Nath Irathen, Draâ El Mizan, and Ain El Hammam—supported by private contractors and reinforcement teams from the Boumerdes and Bouira directorates. This follows the collapse of a medium-voltage electricity pole, the disconnection of five 30 kV lines, and the flooding of two ground transformers. Immediate interventions were carried out to restore supply to several municipalities and villages, including Beni Douala, Beni Zmenzer, Beni Aissi, Bouzeguene, Azeffoun, Ouadhias, Maatkas, Azazga, Timizart, and Aghrib, with teams remaining on the ground until the situation stabilizes.

Technical teams in the Batna Distribution Directorate have also continued interventions despite difficult weather conditions to address faults recorded in the municipalities of El Chaba, Boulhilat, Zana El Beida, Talkhamt, and Lazrou, deploying necessary resources to restore normalcy as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, the Bejaia Distribution Directorate implemented an emergency plan, mobilizing more than 15 intervention teams supported by over 20 equipped vehicles. Interventions were recorded to repair faults and restore supply in several municipalities, including Bejaia, Oued Ghir, Amizour, Ouzellaguen, and Darguina.

In M’Sila, intensive field interventions have continued for the fifth consecutive day across all electricity districts, including M’Sila, Sidi Aissa, Berhoum, Bou Saada, Ain El Melh, and Ben Srour, under challenging weather conditions and with full mobilization of human and technical resources.

In Bordj Bou Arreridj, a technical fault was recorded on the medium-voltage electrical network in the village of Sidi Zitoun, El Anasser municipality. Immediate intervention was carried out to repair the fault, while customers were temporarily supplied via a backup network until the completion of works.

The Boumerdes Distribution Directorate has established a special monitoring cell and reinforced duty teams to increase readiness. Faults were recorded involving the collapse of two medium-voltage electricity poles in Sidi Daoud and Ras Djinet, while technical teams remain mobilized for rapid intervention to ensure the stability of electricity and gas supplies.
