The Ministry of Culture and Arts announced the restoration of the “Ain El Fouara” monument following a recent act of vandalism. According to a ministry statement, following the recent attack on the monument and under the direct instructions of the Minister of Culture and Arts, a specialized technical team from the National Public Museum of Cherchell traveled to Sétif Province to begin emergency intervention work.
The team has commenced meticulous restoration work, which includes re-fixing damaged parts and treating cracks, in accordance with the latest international scientific and technical standards for the maintenance of artistic artifacts. This ensures the restoration of the monument’s original appearance and its aesthetic and archaeological value.
In this regard, the Ministry confirmed that it has taken all legal measures to prosecute those responsible for this act of vandalism before the judiciary, in compliance with legislation protecting cultural property. The Ministry also renewed its call for citizens and civil society to work together to preserve cultural property as a shared civilizational heritage.
