Fateh Boutbig, President of the Future Front, has submitted his resignation from the People’s National Assembly less than six months before the end of the current parliamentary term.
The resignation request was approved by the Bureau of the People’s National Assembly during a meeting held on Sunday.
The resignation comes as part of Boutbig’s preparations to run for the presidency of the Pan-African Parliament, where he has been a member for several years.
Boutbig, a current member of the Pan-African Parliament, is considered a leading candidate for the position, which will be allocated to the North African region as part of the periodic rotation of the post. Nominations and the competitive process are scheduled to open during the second quarter of this year.
