The services of the Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation recorded a high volume of economic control and fraud suppression activities during the first ten days of Ramadan 2026. These efforts follow instructions from the Minister aimed at protecting purchasing power and ensuring the supply of essential consumer goods to the market as part of the special control program for the holy month.
During this period, 3,004 teams were mobilized, conducting a total of 77,847 interventions. These included 73,782 interventions during regular working hours, 11,224 outside of working hours, and 2,979 during the night. These operations resulted in the detection of 10,330 violations and the filing of 10,101 judicial follow-up reports.
Authorities seized 144.91 tons of goods and 56,653.74 liters of liquids, with a total value estimated at 33.71 million DZD. Additionally, 1.41 billion DZD in illegal profits was identified. Regarding the fight against illegal speculation, 10,064 interventions were carried out, which resulted in no recorded violations.
Furthermore, 256 administrative closure proposals were made, and 730 samples were taken for laboratory analysis, showing a 75% compliance rate. In terms of monitoring the supply of regular bread, 2,211 bakeries were inspected. Of these, 2,107 were found to be operating regularly (97%), while 104 bakeries (1%) were operating irregularly across the provinces of Bordj Bou Arreridj, Bouira, Algiers, Boumerdes, Ain Temouchent, Annaba, and Guelma.
Regarding the recorded violations, 104 infractions were linked to the failure to display prices and tariffs, as well as non-compliance with hygiene and health requirements, leading to the issuance of 99 reports. These inspections targeted products such as subsidized milk, regular bread, semolina, coffee (green and roasted), pulses (chickpeas, white beans, lentils), and rice.
The Ministry recorded 28,997 interventions specifically for these products, resulting in 505 violations. These included 374 violations for failure to display prices, 66 violations for lack of invoicing amounting to 56.46 million DZD, and 29 violations for applying illegal prices.
