The Ministry of National Defense announced on Thursday the crash of a small military transport aircraft of the type (BE 1900) shortly after takeoff from the runway of the Boufarik Air Base in the First Military Region.
The Ministry of Defense statement reported that the accident, which occurred at midday on March 5, 2026, resulted in the martyrdom of two officers and injuries of varying severity to the remaining six crew members, who were rushed to the Central Army Hospital.
Following this painful incident, General Saïd Chengriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, expressed on his own behalf and on behalf of all personnel of the People’s National Army his deepest condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the two martyrs, praying to Almighty God to grant them patience and solace and to cover the deceased with His vast mercy, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The General also ordered the opening of an in-depth investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.
