International Meeting on Offshore Hydrocarbon Exploration and Mature Field Development

The National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers will organize an international meeting in Algiers from May 11 to 13. The event will feature two technical workshops dedicated to exploiting offshore hydrocarbon potential and the recovery of mature fields.

The agency stated that these workshops will bring together experts and professionals from the energy sector to discuss these two strategic areas. The first workshop will focus on the exploitation of hydrocarbon potential in the Algerian frontier basin in the Western Mediterranean.

This workshop will be dedicated to exploration in deep and ultra-deep offshore areas of Algeria, focusing on evaluating the geological potential of marine zones that have not yet undergone extensive exploration. It will also address innovations in geophysical data acquisition and processing, as well as new investment and cooperation prospects in offshore exploration.

The second workshop will cover innovative solutions for improving recovery in mature fields and tight reservoirs. Key topics include advanced methods for enhanced oil recovery, the management of heterogeneous and fractured reservoirs, and the exploitation of tight sand potential from the Cambro-Ordovician era, as well as Cenomanian-Turonian and Liassic carbonates.

ALNAFT emphasized that this event will serve as a platform for exchange between local and international experts, promoting the sharing of expertise, innovation, and cooperation in the development of Algeria’s energy sector.
