Tachrifet: Celebrating Victory Day is a “Decisive Historical Moment”

The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tachrifet, accompanied by the Rector of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Sheikh Mohamed El Mamoun El Kacimi El Hassani, oversaw the opening of a historical seminar on Monday commemorating the 64th anniversary of Victory Day (March 19, 1962) at the Museum of Islamic Civilization in the Great Mosque of Algiers.

In his speech, Tachrifet explained that celebrating Victory Day is not merely a recollection of the past, but a “decisive historical moment from which we draw the determination to continue the development movement that is constantly being strengthened to meet challenges and achieve a comprehensive renaissance.”

The Minister emphasized that the victory Algeria achieved on March 19, 1962, was not a coincidence but a historical culmination of a brilliant interaction between all components of the liberation movement. He described it as an action characterized by balance and integration between armed struggle, seasoned diplomacy, and insightful political work.

He added that the loyalty of Algerian men and women today to the principles of victory is not just a passing memory, but a living extension of the values carried by their ancestors.

Tachrifet stressed that just as the first generation fulfilled their sacred liberation mission, Algeria continues today, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to consolidate its victories across various fields. He noted that the country has achieved a qualitative leap that has strengthened the state’s prestige and placed the citizen’s interest above all considerations.

The Minister pointed out that these victories aim to serve the Algerian people and achieve economic development that protects their resources and preserves their dignity. He cited major strategic projects currently being realized as tangible evidence of the renaissance of the “New Algeria.”
