“Taqathy+” Enhances Algeria’s Capabilities in Measuring Renewable Energies

The Center for the Development of Renewable Energies received national and international experts on Tuesday for a technical visit aimed at supporting the development of national quality infrastructure in solar and wind energy technologies. This initiative, supervised by the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, is part of the “Taqathy+” project.

The mission, which included expert consultant in legislation and regulation Mohamed Chaib Aissaoui and the head of the renewable energy component at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Reem Zibak, is part of a program partially funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union. It aims to strengthen national capacities in the areas of quality, reliability, and performance of renewable energy equipment.

The visit featured specialized technical sessions and field visits to observe calibration practices and the tracking of measuring devices within the center’s laboratories. This included the pyranometer calibration laboratory for measuring solar radiation and the solar testing laboratory, both of which are accredited, as well as the photovoltaic panel testing laboratory, which is currently being prepared for accreditation.

These activities were conducted in the presence of the center’s director, the heads of the three laboratories, and the quality management official. They reviewed various practices adopted to ensure measurement accuracy and improve equipment performance.

The visit also served as an opportunity to exchange expertise among various parties, allowing for the identification of areas for improvement and the strengthening of efforts to establish quality standards in the renewable energy sector, thereby supporting Algeria’s energy transition path.
