The Ministry of Culture and Arts announced the signing of a cooperation agreement between Algeria and Niger in the cultural field, signed by Minister Malika Bendouda and her counterpart from the Republic of Niger. According to the ministry’s statement on Wednesday, the agreement was signed within the framework of the official visit made by Prime Minister Seif Gharib, accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, to the Republic of Niger.
This agreement aims to organize mutual cultural weeks to introduce the two peoples to the cultural and artistic heritage of each country, combat the illicit trafficking of cultural property through coordinating security and technical efforts to protect antiquities, and support the cinematographic and book industries by encouraging joint production and facilitating the participation of creators in international exhibitions and festivals held in both countries.
The statement added that this agreement embodies the strong political will of the leaders of the two countries and represents a practical step to make culture a driver for economic development and social rapprochement in the region.
It is noted that Prime Minister Seif Gharib, along with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Niger, Ali Lamine Zeine Mahamane, oversaw the signing ceremony of several agreements and cooperation programs covering various sectors, including energy, health, public works, religious affairs, youth and sports, higher education and scientific research, industry and pharmaceutical industries, knowledge economy, startups, and micro-enterprises, as well as the environment and cooperation in the field of laboratories.
The signed agreements and memorandums of understanding will allow for the establishment of the foundations for a new phase of strategic partnership between Algeria and Niger, transforming the political dynamics launched by the leaders of the two countries into tangible achievements and realistic projects, for the direct benefit of the two brotherly countries and peoples.
