Niamey Seeks to Benefit from Algerian Experience in Postal and Telecommunications Sector

The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, held a bilateral meeting with his Nigerien counterpart, Agaly Ali Salatou. According to a ministry statement, the meeting was attended by telecommunications officials from the Republic of Niger, along with officials from both sides, including representatives from Niger Telecom, the Director General of Information and Communication Technologies, and the CEO of Algérie Télécom.

The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of telecommunications and digital technologies. Both parties addressed prospects for developing telecommunications infrastructure, particularly supporting fiber optic network capacities and enhancing interconnectivity to improve the quality of digital services in the region.

The two sides also discussed cooperation opportunities in digital skills development through joint efforts to establish and develop digital skill centers, in addition to training-of-trainers programs in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to facilitate expertise transfer and build local capacity.

Furthermore, the meeting touched upon the possibilities of supporting the Nigerien side in launching new digital and telecommunications services and benefiting from the Algerian experience in developing postal and digital services.

This meeting took place within the framework of the official visit by the Prime Minister to the Republic of Niger to participate in the proceedings of the second session of the Algerian-Nigerien Joint Grand Commission for Cooperation.
