The body of former President of the Republic, Mujahid Liamine Zéroual, who passed away at the age of 85, was laid to rest on Monday afternoon at the Bouzourane cemetery in the province of Batna.
A solemn official funeral was held for the late former Algerian President Zéroual in his hometown of Batna, attended by a large crowd of citizens from across the country.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune oversaw the funeral ceremony of President Zéroual, alongside General Saïd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, members of the government, and senior state officials.
On Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune paid his final respects to the body of the former President at the Palace of the People in Algiers and signed the book of condolences.
Senior state officials, national figures, and Mujahideen also paid their final respects to the deceased, who passed away last Saturday.
Born in Batna on July 3, 1941, the late president joined the National Liberation Army early in 1957, contributing to the glorious November 1st Revolution. Following independence, he continued his career within the People’s National Army, benefiting from high-level military training.
