Algeria and Serbia Strengthen Partnership in Mechanical and Technological Industries

Minister of Industry Yahia Bachir held high-level talks on Tuesday evening in Algiers with the Serbian Minister for International Economic Cooperation and Vice-Chairman of the Algerian-Serbian Joint Commission, Nenad Popović. Popović is conducting an official visit to Algeria at the head of a high-level delegation led by Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, in the presence of senior officials from both sides, as part of efforts to strengthen economic and industrial relations between the two countries.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in several priority industrial sectors, particularly building materials, by leveraging cement and clinker production capacities and developing the processing of marble and marble products, alongside the iron and steel industry. Opportunities for partnership in agricultural equipment and food industries, as well as the development of production chains in textiles and leather, were also addressed.

The talks further covered cooperation prospects in technological and digital industries, including software development, digitalization, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on transferring expertise and modern technologies to enhance the capabilities of Algerian enterprises.

In this context, the Serbian side expressed significant interest in developing practical partnerships in these fields, particularly in mechanical industries, agricultural equipment, manufacturing, and technology transfer. This is in addition to digitalization, artificial intelligence, building materials, and textile industries, with a specific focus on benefiting from Algerian raw materials and semi-industrial products, especially leather and its derivatives, as well as building materials, given the high demand for these sectors in the Serbian market.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of transforming these opportunities into concrete projects in both countries. They also agreed to work on organizing joint business meetings in the coming period to contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation and elevating it to the level of the distinguished relations between Algeria and Serbia.
