Over 17,000 imported sheep arrive in Oran

On Wednesday, the Algerian Red Meat Company (ALVIAR), through its branch, the Regional Meat Office of the West (ORVO), began unloading two simultaneous shipments of imported sheep at the Port of Oran.

The first shipment consists of 7,000 sheep, while the second includes 10,250 sheep, both arriving from Romania. All human and logistical resources have been provided by ORVO/ALVIAR, including a large fleet of trucks.

The sheep will be quarantined separately at two facilities in Oran province, which were prepared by ORVO/ALVIAR under the supervision of the company’s veterinarians and the provincial veterinary inspectorate.

This operation follows the orders of the President of the Republic regarding the import of one million sheep for Eid sacrifices, in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, and under the supervision of the Food and Logistics Industries Group (AGROLOG).
