Hidaoui: The Blue Economy has become a conviction taking root among youth

Mustapha Hidaoui, the Minister of Youth in charge of the High Council for Youth, oversaw the opening of the National Forum for Sustainable Economy on Saturday in Skikda. The event was held under the theme “Investment Opportunities, Environmental Sustainability, and Youth Empowerment.”

In his speech, Hidaoui emphasized that the blue economy “has become one of the most important assets that Algeria can rely on today, given the significant potential the country possesses.”

The minister explained that the blue economy “is no longer just a proposal but has become a conviction taking root among young people day after day, as it represents a real field for creating added value to keep pace with global transformations, especially in light of the shift toward a smart economy based on technology and innovation.”

He added that Algeria “now possesses a strong entrepreneurial system in many fields, built through integrated efforts involving universities, training centers, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, startups, and micro-enterprises with their various mechanisms of funding, support, and incubators, which allowed for the emergence of many initiatives and ideas.”

Hidaoui also highlighted that Algeria “possesses a strong political and economic will that has made youth a fundamental pillar for building a diverse and sustainable national economy, as reflected in the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who placed youth entrepreneurship at the heart of his concerns.”

For his part, Noureddine Ouadah, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, who participated via video conference, emphasized the importance of the blue economy as one of the pillars of an economy based on knowledge and technology. He noted its role in creating new opportunities for youth, enhancing food security, and the importance of supporting innovation and accompanying young people.
