Nourredine Ouadah, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, emphasized the significant role that startups and micro-enterprises play in establishing a new model for construction projects in the country. This model is based on rationalizing energy consumption and integrating modern technologies.
Speaking at the opening of the second edition of the “Construction Pioneers” forum, Ouadah stated that Algerian startups and micro-enterprises possess the necessary expertise and technologies to support the state’s efforts in keeping pace with current global transformations. He added that they contribute to building a new model based on rational energy consumption and the optimal use of resources.
The Minister praised the progress made in this field, noting that many enterprises established through support mechanisms—such as the National Agency for Support and Development of Entrepreneurship (NESDA) and the National Micro-credit Management Agency (ANGEM)—have demonstrated their ability to provide innovative construction methods that integrate modern engineering techniques and materials.
In the same context, he called for concerted efforts among various stakeholders in the construction and modern technology sectors to realize this vision, stressing the need to adapt tender specifications to meet these requirements.
Regarding the “Construction Pioneers” forum, the Minister considered it a favorable opportunity to showcase Algerian capabilities in innovative construction and to exchange views among various actors to create a dynamic that strengthens the role of startups and micro-enterprises.
The three-day forum, organized under the patronage of the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, was attended by representatives from various relevant sectors, members of Parliament, public bodies and institutions, experts, startups, and real estate investors.
Discussion sessions addressed the investment climate in Algeria in light of the measures taken and the significant incentives provided through the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency. Topics also included smart cities, energy efficiency, digitalization in the construction sector, the use of artificial intelligence, and compliance with environmental standards.
