Energy: Adjal Opens New Horizons for Exporting Equipment to African Markets​

Algiers – In line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to expand international partnerships and bolster continental cooperation, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, held a high-level virtual meeting on Wednesday with his Ivorian counterpart.​The discussions with Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, the Ivorian Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy—who currently chairs the Ministerial Meeting of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO)—focused on accelerating energy cooperation between Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire.​Building on Recent Diplomacy​This meeting follows the official visit of the Ivorian Minister to Algiers on March 28, 2026. During today’s session, attended by the Ivorian Ambassador to Algeria and senior sector officials, both parties reviewed the current state of their respective energy systems and identified strategic growth areas.​Minister Coulibaly praised Algeria’s “pioneering expertise” in the energy sector, expressing Côte d’Ivoire’s strong desire to establish practical partnerships that support his country’s energy development.​Key Areas of Cooperation​Minister Mourad Adjal reaffirmed Algeria’s readiness to forge reliable, strategic partnerships. The proposed collaboration covers several vital pillars:​Infrastructure: Production, transport, and distribution of energy.​Manufacturing & Export: Promoting the Algerian-made energy equipment industry and exporting products to the wider African market.​Technical Services: Maintenance and specialized training programs.​Next Steps: Technical Delegation and MoU​The meeting concluded with a formal agreement to send a technical delegation from Côte d’Ivoire to Algeria. These experts will work alongside their Algerian counterparts to finalize specific cooperation axes.​These efforts will culminate in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sectors in the near future, setting a clear roadmap for regional energy security and shared economic growth.
